TITLE: Beginning again

Author's Notes: erm. Couldn't resist the challenge! I haven't written Cordy/Xander in a LONG time and I'm missing them...they were so sweet together. This is pretty bad actually....
She slowly makes her way into the pool. It's past 10 at night, and the pool is closed but she wanted to be alone. Alone with him. Cordelia had put a note in Xander's locker, telling him to meet her here, but she wasn't sure that he would come. They were hardly on the best of terms. She slowly swam laps up and down the pool.
Xander stood and watched from the changing room entrance. She was beautiful, even in the simple black one-piece she was wearing. He quietly made his way over to the pool, and she saw him.
Cordelia took a deep breath. This was a familiar sight, but one she hadn't seen for a long time. She smiled at the view, and at the memory of last time.
Xander plunged into the pool.
"So, did you just call me here to be one of your many admirers" He spat out at her. Then his tone softened. "I didn't mean it. I'm sorry Cordy."
Her face brightened. They talked for a while and decided that they could be friends. That that was all they were. Then Xander took the initiative, and moved in towards her. She moved to meet him, and their lips touched. They kissed softly at first and then more passionately. She pulled him under the water, and they emerged together lips locked. Cordelia wrapped her legs around Xander's waist. He moved to remove her swimsuit, and she kissed her approval.
Just as they were both naked, a bright light shone in their faces.
"Cordelia?"
'Uh oh' she thought. Thats not...it can't be...
"Buffy??"
"I, uh, I was getting chased by the police, this was the first place...Xander???" Buffy's shock was evident. She suddenly realised their state of undress, and turned her back.
"Uh, guys. I'll see you later." She walked off.
The moment ruined, Cordelia and Xander began laughing, hysterically, when suddenly a man in a policeman's uniform walked into the pool. Both struggled to contain their laughter, but lost, and burst out, attracting the policeman's interest. He walked over, holding a can of beer. As he neared them, the couple realised who the 'policeman' was. Spike. Looking strange without his leather duster.
"Oooh, aren't you the lucky man tonight...RED'S FRIEND?? I guess she" he indicated Cordelia "must be blind, to be shagging you!! I didn't think you were getting any, considering the googly eyes you and Red were making at each other last time I saw you." Believing that he had managed to ruin the moment completely, by firstly chasing Buffy into the swimming center, and secondly with the mention of Willow and Xander, Spike stalked off into the night singing Van Morrison's Moondance.
Cordelia exhaled loudly. Thank god he'd left...maybe they could get back to what they'd started. She snaked her arms around Xander's neck, and swung her legs around his waist.
Xander was in shock. Here, Spike had just mentioned Willow, and the whole mess that had started when they got caught in the factory, and Cordy was convieniently ignoring it. Some guys had all the luck, and wasn't he lucky to be one of them.
