TITLE: I Want You
AUTHOR: Nico

DISCLAIMER: Joss owns the characters and I want the "Grr, Argh" guy to live in my room. The story is mine, the song belongs to Elvis Costello.
TIMELINE: Season 5 Buffy and Season 2 Angel, in Angel's *DARK* period.
SPOILERS: No specific refrences to anything, but if you know that Angel got real dark for a while and the basicis of the B/A and B/R relationships, then you should be set.
SYNOPSIS: I want you. I want you. I want you. I want you.
DISTRIBUTION: Whoever wants it can have it, as long as I see some URL.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: *IMPORTANT*: This fic contains two MAJOR character deaths, and is VERY dark. The song it's based on, "I Want You" by Elvis Costello, is the darkest one he ever wrote and hence this fic is quite possibley the darkest thing *I've* ever written (in the BtVS fanfic world, that is). So *PLEASE* understand that while this fic *IS* B/A in a dark, twisted way, it is *dark* and quite possibely *disturbing*.
FEEDBACK: I take Feedback out to dinner and put out on the first date. Oh, yeah.
RATING: Strong R for darkness

Oh my baby baby, I love you more than I can tell
I don't think I can live without you
And I know I never will
Oh my baby baby, I want you so it scares me to death
I can't say anymore than I love you
Everything else is a waste of breath

It was dark and as cold as California was going to get, and he wore it like a coat. He moved in the shadows, in the dark, smooth body flowing over gradations and seperations like water poured over a marble fountain. He was a void in the night, silent and permanent and inescapable. Women turned burning eyes to his before they turned cold and stiff and ran for their lives. Men protectively held their women's waists, but couldn't hold his gaze. He simple melted back into the shadows, smirk on his lips, and cold in his heart. He was nothing, he was everything, and he was terrifying.

He poured himself through darkness to find his light. He could smell her, taste her, feel her tingling in the pit of his stomach. He could see her from the corner of his eye; he had all night. Had seen her smile and laugh and touch and kiss the man who stood at her side, woolen coat draped casually over his shoulders. Had tasted her scent lingering on his skin and clothing, and smelled his scent where she had once sworn he would smell ((minemineMINE)) no one but him. He followed them with a promise and a destiny. He followed them because he had to. Because ithad to be done.

I want you
You've had your fun, you don't get well no more
I want you
Your fingernails go dragging down the wall
I want you
Be careful darling, you might fall
I want you

It was dark when she opened her eyes. She shifted out from under the heavy ((hotsweatywrong)) arm of her compainion and wrapped herself in a silk robe she'd gotten to please the other man in her life, just in case he still came to her window at night. She felt tingly and wrong and off and like something had crawled under her skin and was now playing chutes and ladders with her insides. She moved silently to her window((thesamewindowalwaysthesamewindow)) and looked because she always looked and never found. Her yard was empty, the grass was green and happily growing, and the tingle in the base of her spine and pit of her belly increased tenfold. She felt the phantom caress of his lips on her skin, the phantom touch of his hands. Her lover beckoned her from her bed and she ignored him with the fervor of a wife waiting on her lover ((alwaysalover)).

I woke up and one of us was crying
I want you
You said "Young man I do believe you're dying"
I want you
If you need a second opinion as you seem to do
I want you
You can look into my eyes and you can count the ways
I want you

His name fell from her lips, and like an incantation he appeared. She jumped, startled, and took a step back. He had come from nowhere, poured from darkness, marble skin against inky night deviod of stars and lit by only the tiniest sliver of a moon. His eyes were black and endless and like the sky itself and she thought to herself how fitting it was that her lover come to her with total darkness within and without. His eyes burned into her, leaving scalded scars all over her face and then further and further on the exposed flesh that travelled almost to her navel. She pulled the robe tighter around her, but his eyes just burned through the flimsy silk to her hot skin. They were like the deepest, darkest pits of the universe, burning with unfufilled desire and something that she couldn't quite place ((didn'twanttoplaceafraidtoplace)). Then slowly, with painful precision, his eyes slid over to her bed and she forgot how to breathe.

Did you mean to tell me but seem to forget
I want you
Since when were you so generous and inarticulate
I want you
It's the stupid details my heart is breaking for
It's the way your shoulders shake and what they're shaking for
It's knowing that he knows you now after only guessing
I want you

She nearly ran at his eyes as they slid back to her own, burning with lust and hatred so deep that it was like the universe collapsed into his eyes((ineverydropofhateIamthereIamthereIamthere)) and then set on fire. Her breath caught in her throat as he stared at her, betrayal and pain dripping from his pores, beating through his dead heart, exhaling with his dead breath. Condemnation radiated from him and she felt her heart squeeze and flip as she was pulled into the seductive grip of fear.

It's the thought of him undressing you or you undressing
I want you
He tossed some tatty compliment your way
I want you
And you were fool enough to love it when he said
"I want you"
I want you
The truth can't hurt you it's just like the dark
It scares you witless
But in time you see things clear and stark

Her eyes widened, teared, dried, and rolled wildly as she saw his hand raise slowly from his side. He reached forward and gently touched her shoulder, the cold of his fingers penetrating the thin silk like fire, the slim digits drawing her foward to her windowsill and into the very outer reaches of his embrace. The cold hand slid up her neck, and to her cheek, caressing the soft skin, running over her lips and her eyelids. She closed her eyes, leaned in gently, sighing with relief to feel her lover's hands after what felt like centuries.

I want you
Go on and hurt me, then we'll let it drop
I want you
I'm afraid I won't know where to stop
I want you
I'm not ashamed to say I cried for you
I want you
I want to know the things you did that we do too

She sighed as his hand moved back to her neck, tracing her scar ever so lightly, first the back of his fingers and then the pad of his thumb. She felt his palm cup her neck and she nearly cried at the touch. His pressure increased slowly, fanning the flames of her desire.

I want you
I want to hear he pleases you more than I do

Slowly the gentle caress began to build to a light massage, the pads of his knuckles digging into her soft flesh. She sighed again, leaned foward, offering herself to him. Her eyes fluttered shut, and missed his smile.

I want you
I might as well be useless for all it means to you

The caress began to risein agression, his hand clenching around her neck. She sighed from the pleasure once again, before realizing that it had begun to her. Her eyes fluttered, briefly opening to the empty pit that were his eyes before slamming shut again.

I want you
Did you call out his name as he held you down
I want you
Oh no my darling, not with that clown

Suddenly, his hand clenched hard, squeezing her windpipe, holding it closed as her eyes popped open and her hands came up to grab at his wrist. He didn't flinch as her nails dug into his skin, drawing dead blood to the surface, nor did he flinch when her eyes began to tear and airless sobs burst from her mouth. She struggled, pulled at his grip, trying to shift out of it, but to no avail. He only held on tighter.

I want you
You had your fun, you don't get well no more
I want you
No one who wants you could want you more
I want you
Every night when I go off to bed and when I wake up
I want you
I want you

"A- Angel.." She choked out. He stared at her evenly as she struggled to choke out worse, "A-Angel w-why?"

He watched silently as the life began to drain from her body, her eyes rolled back in her head, and she finally went limp. Dropping her, he stared down at her corpse, tracing a loving finger over her cheek.

I want you.
I'm going to say it again 'till I instill it
I know I'm going to feel this way until you kill it

He gazed at her, before answering her last question before settling down to wait for the sunrise.

"Mine."

I want you
I want you
